The Incredible Years is a set of linked programs for caregivers, teachers, and children aged 0-13. The programs aim to:
Improve child-parent relationships
Decrease problem behaviors
Increase home-school communication
Build supportive family networks
Help caregivers teach children social skills
Help caregivers teach children emotional regulation
The interventions also teach caregivers/educators to:
Promote children's social, emotional, and academic competence
Prevent, reduce, and treat aggression and emotional problems
Strengthen adult competencies
Foster caregiver-school communication
According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) found the intervention to be effective in reducing problem behaviors and increasing social behaviors/teaching practices for students in preschool or early elementary school.
