Michigan Model for Health Education

A curriculum designed to cover major topics related to youth health, such as social and emotional health, nutrition, substance use, and HIV prevention.

Michigan Model for Health (MMH) is a K-12 curriculum with lessons and activities focused on:

  • Social and emotional health

  • Nutrition and physical activity

  • Safety

  • Alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs

  • Personal health and wellness

  • HIV and STI prevention (beginning in middle school)


According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with students in grades 4-5 found increased positive social behavior and reduced conduct problems.
